HoneymoonWishes is a cash-fund and honeymoon-registry platform that says it has been operating since 2003, with one genuinely distinctive feature: guests can pay a partner hotel, resort or cruise line directly instead of routing money through the couple's bank account.

The same site that promotes "no hidden fees" also publishes a tiered withdrawal schedule that runs as high as 7 percent. Both statements are true at once.

That contradiction is the real subject of this page.

A cash fund is just a registry that accepts money instead of merchandise, usually bundled into a wider gift registry or its own linked page.

HoneymoonWishes sits in a small group of platforms built specifically around that model, alongside Honeyfund and Hitchd.

If you haven't settled on the registry format itself, the four registry models compared is where to start before you compare fee schedules line by line.

This site earns commission on some outbound links. Affiliate presence played no part in whether HoneymoonWishes appears in this hub or in the verdict below, and no commission figure is published anywhere on this site.

Our methodology page, how we compare platforms and what we do not test, covers selection, scope and how this site is paid.

What HoneymoonWishes Actually Is, and How Its Fund Model Works

HoneymoonWishes is a cash/honeymoon-fund platform with direct partner-account payouts, not a retailer-scoped registry and not an all-in-one wedding-planning suite. Couples set up a fund page, guests contribute cash toward it, and the couple decides later how that money lands.

Every account also comes bundled with a free wedding or engagement website that handles RSVPs and a photo album, so a couple who wants one page for the fund and the guest-facing logistics gets both without a second signup.

The mechanic that sets HoneymoonWishes apart from Honeyfund, Hitchd, or the bundled fund inside The Knot is the option to route contributions straight to a named partner hotel, resort or cruise line instead of a personal bank account.

No competitor in this comparison documents that option for any platform it reviews. If you're still weighing whether a cash fund fits your guest list at all, settle that question first.

How Sending and Receiving Money Actually Works, Step by Step

The chain is simple once you see it whole. The couple builds the fund page and, if they want it, the bundled wedding website with RSVP tracking.

A guest pays by card, and HoneymoonWishes charges that guest a separate 2.5 percent card-processing fee on top of whatever they chose to give (a detail that causes more comment-section confusion about this platform than almost anything else).

That fee belongs to the guest's transaction, not the couple's payout.

From there the couple has two paths. The ordinary path is a withdrawal, in one of four methods covered below, each with its own fee.

The distinctive path is a direct payout to one of HoneymoonWishes' "Exclusive Registry Partners," named hotel, resort and cruise-line accounts including Hilton, Carnival, Fairmont, Secrets, Atlantis and Royal Caribbean, where the fund pays the partner directly instead of landing in the couple's checking account first.

Before you build the fund, work out how many items your guest list actually needs. And if you're still deciding how to mention the fund to guests at all, why the registry never goes on the invitation covers that separately.

What HoneymoonWishes Costs: The Fee Schedule vs. the "No Hidden Fees" Claim

This is exactly the kind of page I used to get paid to read closely.

Eight years on a consumer desk teaches you to distrust the banner above the fold and go straight to the terms page, and HoneymoonWishes' own terms page is where the real math lives, three scrolls down from the line that says "no hidden fees."

Here is the fee schedule as published on that terms page, last verified August 2026. Confirm current terms directly with the platform before you commit, since schedules like this one change without much notice.

Withdrawal method Fee to the couple Notes
Gift card 0% The only fee-free path for the couple
Visa prepaid card $4.95 flat Flat fee regardless of balance
ACH bank transfer 3.5% Standard bank-account withdrawal
Paper check 7% The highest-cost path available
Guest card payment 2.5% Charged to the guest, separate from the couple's withdrawal fee above

Read it top to bottom and "no hidden fees" stops making sense. A couple who withdraws by check hands over 7 cents of every dollar guests gave them. Nothing here is hidden in the sense of a surprise; it is disclosed, in writing, on the same page as the marketing line that contradicts it.

One third-party roundup simplifies this whole schedule to a flat "7% fee" across the board, which understates the gift-card and prepaid-card paths and overstates what most couples will actually pay. Neither the marketing line nor the roundup's shortcut is the honest version. The table above is.

Is HoneymoonWishes Legit? Operating Status and Trust Signals

I did not find an independent operating-status check for HoneymoonWishes anywhere in the research behind this page, and I'm not going to pretend otherwise. What exists is the company's self-reported founding claim: operating since 2003, organized as a California corporation. There's also an active Better Business Bureau profile, and the fact that its terms page was live and citable when this article was researched.

It is not the same as the live-site and shutdown-notice check I could run for Hitchd elsewhere in this hub, and I won't borrow that page's confidence for this one.

The BBB profile carries an A+ rating. It is not BBB-accredited, and those are two separate facts, not one. Independent review scores disagree sharply: one aggregator sits around 2.1 out of 5, another around 4.3, both on a small number of reviews I would not call durable either way.

You may also come across a 4.5-out-of-5 score attributed to HoneymoonWishes online. It belongs to a different, unrelated site, and should never be repeated as this company's number, however often it circulates. HoneymoonWishes also states, on its own site, a $3,000,000 fraud-insurance policy and daily security checks; treat both as self-reported, unaudited claims.

For the fraud patterns that show up across cash-fund platforms generally, see the four registry models compared for the hub's guide to fake registries and account takeover.

Pros and Cons of Using HoneymoonWishes

What works in its favor: the partner-hotel and cruise-line payout option, the bundled free wedding website, a genuinely fee-free path for couples willing to take a gift card, and a long operating history by the company's own account.

What doesn't: the check-withdrawal path costs a real 7 percent, the "no hidden fees" claim doesn't survive contact with the platform's own terms page, independent trust evidence is thin and contradictory, and no outside party has verified this specific entity is still operating the way Hitchd's page has been (the kind of gap that's easy to miss when you compare platforms by their homepage claims alone).

None of that makes HoneymoonWishes a scam. It makes it a platform worth reading closely before you pick a withdrawal method.

How HoneymoonWishes Compares to Honeyfund and Hitchd

Honeyfund, Hitchd and HoneymoonWishes all sit in the same cash-fund-first group, and each has its own specific fee problem rather than a shared one. Honeyfund is free only on certain named payout methods, so how Honeyfund's fee-free path compares is worth reading before you assume "free" applies to your bank.

Hitchd's own pages disagree with each other on pricing depending on which one you land on, a different kind of trust problem than HoneymoonWishes' marketing-versus-terms contradiction; see why Hitchd's own pricing pages disagree with each other.

If you'd rather skip a standalone fund entirely, how The Knot's built-in honeymoon fund compares covers the bundled alternative. For the full breakdown across all ten platforms in this hub, see how all ten registry platforms are classified.

The Honest Verdict on HoneymoonWishes

HoneymoonWishes is a real company that has, by its own account, been operating for over two decades. Its BBB profile reads better at a glance than it holds up once you separate the A+ rating from accreditation it doesn't have, and its marketing oversells a fee structure its own terms page contradicts. No independent trust score here is clean enough to lean on.

This platform suits a couple specifically drawn to the partner-hotel payout option, one willing to read the fee tiers themselves before choosing a withdrawal method. It does not suit a couple chasing the lowest fee regardless of payout method, or one that needs a currently, independently verified operating status before handing over guest money.

HoneymoonWishes FAQ

Is HoneymoonWishes legit given how few independent reviews exist for it? Yes, as a company operating, by its own account, since 2003, with an active BBB profile. But be precise: an A+ rating is not the same as BBB accreditation, and no independent operating-status check exists for this entity the way one does for Hitchd. That's an honest gap, not a red flag by itself.

What does HoneymoonWishes actually charge, by withdrawal method? Gift cards are free, a Visa prepaid card costs a flat $4.95, ACH transfer costs 3.5 percent, and a paper check costs 7 percent, on top of the separate 2.5 percent card fee charged to the paying guest.

That schedule sits on the same page as the platform's "no hidden fees" claim, which it directly contradicts.

Can guests send money directly to a hotel or cruise line instead of the couple's bank account? Yes, through HoneymoonWishes' Exclusive Registry Partners program, currently naming Hilton, Carnival, Fairmont, Secrets, Atlantis and Royal Caribbean. It's the one feature in this comparison no competitor documents.

Does HoneymoonWishes include a wedding website? Yes, a free bundled wedding or engagement website with RSVP tracking and a photo album, at no extra charge.

How does HoneymoonWishes compare to Honeyfund and Hitchd? Each has a different fee-documentation problem rather than a shared one, covered in the comparison section above. Read that before picking by name recognition alone.
